Yesterday was the one year anniversary of meeting Emily for the first time.
Today was Citizenship Day for Emily. There was a ceremony held at the Sacramento Zoo by the local office of the BCIS (formerly the INS). It was in a covered outdoor amphitheater with a stage. There were a few speeches then each child was called up to pick up their Certificate of Citizenship. About 15 […]
Today, we went to the BCIS (formerly the INS) office in Sacramento for an appointment involving an application for Emily’s certificate of citizenship. The appointment was quick and easy. We were told that Emily will be receiving her certificate of citizenship at a special U.S. citizenship ceremony for children to be held at the Sacramento […]
Emily is now a skilled walker and frequently runs. When we are outside, she prefers to walk rather than be carried.

I filed Emily’s (re-)adoption papers with the Calfornia Superior Court this afternoon. Emily’s adoption hearing is scheduled for April 3 (less than a month away). The adoption will be finalized in front of a California Superior Court judge on that day. However, the California Office of Vital Records (a state governmental agency that processes birth […]
